Institutional and Human Resource Development Program
COSECAM’s IHRD Program’s objective is to improve the functioning of NGO’s and Government departments who work in the area of child protection and rehabilitation. Member organisations are advised on how to make structural improvements and forge new linkages, while human resource capacity is built through training programs, meetings and workshops.
The IHRD Program also aims to integrate member organizations and their programs into coalition activities and programs, so that all organizations work together in a coherent way. The latter point adheres to COSECAM’s core principle of effecting change through working together, whilst minimising duplication of member's activities and efforts.
Psycho-Social Training
Psycho-social training aims to improve the skills of counsellors, particularly those working with children and victims of trafficking and sexual exploitation. This COSECAM initiative recognises that many of those working as counsellors in Cambodia have little or no formal training. Given the prevalence of victims in shelters who have been exposed to situations of violence, exploitation and sexual abuse, the training is essential for staff to be able to properly address the needs of the victims. The training is designed to build the capacity of participants to a level where they can instruct others on the job and teach classes, thereby transfering the knowledge exponentially.
Management Training
Management training aims to enable NGOs and government agencies to provide appropriate services to abused, exploited and neglected children and young people in an effective and efficient manner through proper management, coordination and leadership.
Integrated Child Issue Programming (ICP)
ICP aims to develop a more comprehensive and holistic understanding about the issue of trafficking and sexual abuse and commercial exploitation of children in the context of the country and the region. Child-victims resident in childcare centers, trainees of the VTF project and members of child clubs or youth organizations are included in this effort. Another aim of ICP is to develop a comprehensive and integrated NGO sector activity program for addressing child trafficking, exploitation and abuse.
