COSECAM Organized Finance Training for NGO Partners
Phnom Penh: The CETHCam Project (Creating a Legal and Sustainable Environment for Trafficked Human Beings from and in Cambodia) of COSECAM conducted a Finance Training for NGO partners on March 9-11, 2008 at Khemarak University.
The training aimed participants to understand about internal and monitoring controls, accepted accounting principle, EU rules and requirement of financial reports of COSECAM/EU.
35 participants who were the directors, program managers and finance officers from 18 provincial and mumicipal NGO partners attended the three-day training.
The Three facilitators were from S.S. Fontamillas & Co. who contracted with ICCO in order to facilitate this training.
During the session, facilitators provided clearly the knowledge and experiences of the accounting cycle and the importance of records and documents, the use of journals and ledger, EU expenditure verification, internal control and its importance, different internal control techniques, different internal control monitoring activities, basic financial reports, general policies and guidelines on EU finance reporting, EU financial report format, sample of banking report, sample financial report, and so on.
Evaluations from the training were positive. Participants reported to find the sessions useful. The financial officers/managers understood well about the sessions, and the program managers have learned new techniques/methods from the training although the facilitators spoke in English.
