It was organized by the BIG-C and CWCC with the cooperation from the government official in Banteay Meanchey province under the support from UNODC, UNAIP, World Vision Cambodia, World Vision Thailand, Action Pour Les Enfant (APLE), Samarita Purse, and Lotus Outreach. The event is chaired by H.E Chou Buneng with the delegates from SraKoae province of Thailand and Banteay Meanchey province of Cambodia. Around one thousand participants, including the community people, farmers, students, monks, solders, police, district and provincial officer, NGOs staff, joint in the marching with a banner showing a message that reads: "Human has the same value, and it is priceless." The marching started from Beoung Trakoun Market heading to Beoung Trakoun pagoda, where the ceremony took place.
Having participated in the event, both old and new GSO members who have never participated in such an event have shown their impression as followings: HCC-Kandal: "I think this event is crucially important as it plays part in our country building. In addition, it also help education our young generation to understand about the tricks of the perpetrators to avoid falling under their tricks. I do hope the event shall be celebrated annually." ARM-Battambang: "I am so happy to have joined in this event because I see Excellencies are so proud to cooperate in combating human trafficking. Moreover, I have seen better relationship between Cambodia and Thailand; though the traveling to the location is very difficult, I am so happy to have joint in the morning session of the event on December 12, 2011." KnK-Battambang: "I am so impressed to have joint the anti-human trafficking day event. I think it is best to celebrate this event in the border areas like this because it helped send out information to the people who did not know about this topic to get to know well about the issue. The most important message is "Human cannot be trafficked like a goods or merchandise, and everyone has the equal right." Moreover, it increased my understanding that human are valuable and priceless. In addition, I have learned more about the life of the people in the border area. Though the traveling is very difficult, I was so excited and happy to have joint in the event marching, and I do hope such participation will take place again." CCT-Battambang: I have learnt the followings from the event participation: - Human trafficking is an illegal act - Awareness raising or educating people, who have no idea about human trafficking and child labor exploitation , is very important - Raising awareness about human right is also very important. I think the event is really good to me personally as well to the majority of the people. I want a frequent event like this to take place widely through out Cambodia, and that human trafficking can be prevented and human rights are protected. |
