The Girls Speak Out Group will meet at a workshop on Sunday 07 February, 2010. The purpose of the workshop is to update peer educator's activities, identify criteria for new members of GSO and select GSO leader, hand out edu-tainment materials for GSO to do peer education and develop their activity plans to be done before the next meeting, and to discuss rape and domestic violence research.
Six agencies have formed the North-East Research Group (NERG) to conduct studies on migration and human trafficking in and through Cambodia; the participating agencies are Chap Dai Coalition, COSECAM, IOM, Oxfam Quebec, The Asia Foundation and UNIAP. NERG will be organising an international conference in Phnom Penh co-hosted by the Royal Government on 31 March – 2 April 2010 on “Mobility Patterns of Cambodian and other nationals in the South-east Asia Region”. There is a need to raise more awareness of human trafficking and exploitation issues amongst the young, particularly those who may be at risk, a 2009 Girls Speak Out report says.
The report looks at the impact, importance and future development of the Peer Educator role. Released in January, it is a review of findings from discussions with 26 girls who were victims of trafficking and exploitation, and their Caretakers. Read more
